It is no longer feasible to view expediting as the activity used to correct an already known negative situation. Expediting needs to return to its original role and be used as a preventive and not reactive measure, Expediting should be included in planning of project activities at the time of procurement to ensure that it can provide the results expected.

Desk / Telephone expediting activities

Desk / telephone expediting provides a valuable tool for monitoring the progress of orders with a manufacturer. Contact is established at specific milestones in the order fabrication process and a brief summary of the current status obtained during the ensuing conversation. An experienced expediter can very quickly assess whether the order is progressing according to plan or whether other measures are required to verify and possibly improve the order progress. Desk / telephone expediting is best used as a tool to supplement field expediting and quickly demonstrates to the vendor that the delivery date is a crucial factor to their client.

Field expediting activities

Field Expediting provides clients with a comprehensive review of the exact status of their order and any on site action to rectify any potential problem areas. Our expediters are experienced professionals who, by virtue of their technical backgrounds, are able to quickly verify progress against schedules, spot any potential bottlenecks and point out any quality issues that may lead to eventual delays.

Our expediters remain in close contact with the client and, wherever possible, provide a verbal close out call prior to leaving the works. During this call the client is briefed on the results of the visit and a discussion regarding continued activities is also held. This ensures that the client has the latest information available.

Full time Monitoring / Project Coverage

Full time monitoring / project coverage activities provide clients with continuous in depth progress information and immediate action by the expediter as soon as problems become apparent. This ensures that schedules are maintained in line with the specific project needs. For full time expediting needs, whether for an individual order or for a specific project, a dedicated expediter will be provided to liaise directly with the client ensuring the most direct lines of communication. This ensures that the client interfaces directly with the assigned expediter and information exchange is as efficient as possible.

Expediting Procedures

Matrix Quality operates a Quality Management System to ISO 9001 - 2000. Field personnel are provided with detailed work instructions on the key aspects involved in the execution of the assigned activities. Whenever clients, specific project needs dictate it then specific project instructions will be generated. In addition to this, field personnel are provided with detailed assignment instructions to ensure that they fully understand the customer’s requirements and expectations.

Reporting of expediting activities

Matrix Quality is fully equipped with all standard methods of report preparation and transmittal. Reports can be submitted per post, telefax or e-mail as required by client.

All our inspectors are computer literate and capable of communicating through electronic media ensuring fast response.

Reporting can be made on client own forms or on Matrix Quality standard forms.
